Righteous Indignation
I created mixed media, print pieces that work within the topics of exclusion, isolation, social and religious isolation, and hate. I choose specific images to incorporate into a chaotic but cohesive appearance. Incorporating appropriated images from vintage children’s books and clipart add a layer of innocence, mystery and creepiness to each of the pieces.
I am recontextualizing the benign appropriated images to create a deeper meaning or message than what appears on the surface. My intentions are not to hit people over the head with narratives but to allow a subversive invitation to understand why the supposed monsters are not what we think they are.
